Safety operation specifications for OBD2 connector
Avoid live plugging and unplugging
Before operation: Be sure to turn off the vehicle ignition switch (or turn off the engine), ensure that the vehicle power is disconnected, and avoid instantaneous current damage to interfaces, diagnostic equipment, or vehicle ECU during plugging and unplugging.
Exception: Some devices that support hot swapping, such as Bluetooth adapters, can be connected when powered on, but it is still recommended to perform power-off operations to reduce risks.
Prevent interface damage
Insertion direction: The OBD2 interface has a foolproof design. If the plug cannot be inserted smoothly, do not force it forcefully. Adjust the direction before trying again (the plug gap should be aligned with the interface protrusion).
Regular inspection: Avoid dust, liquids, or foreign objects entering the interface. If the interface pins are found to be deformed, oxidized, or corroded, they should be repaired or replaced in a timely manner to avoid affecting communication.
Stay away from liquids and high temperatures
Avoid splashing liquids (such as water or beverages) near the interface to prevent short circuits; At the same time, avoid connecting devices for long periods of time in high-temperature environments (such as enclosed cars with direct sunlight) to prevent electronic components from aging.
